PHẦN A: HỆ THỐNG CÁC ĐIỂM NGỮ PHÁP CƠ BẢN
I. Các thì trong Tiếng Anh
1. Thì hiện tại đơn (Simple Present Tense)
Công thức :
– Câu khẳng định :
S + V(s/es) ….
S am/is/are ….
Câu phủ định :
S + do/does + not + V ….
S + am/is/are + not …..
Câu nghi vấn :
Do/Does + S + V ….?
Am/Is/Are + S …..?
* Chủ ngữ số ít và đại từ “He, she, it” thì đi với “V(s/es)”, “is” và “does” trong câu nghi vấn.
Chủ ngữ số số nhiều và đại từ “You, we, they” đi với “V-inf”, “are” và “do” trong câu nghi vấn.
Đại từ “I” đi với “V-inf”, “am” và “do” trong câu nghi vấn.
Cách thêm “s” và “es” cho động từ :
Thêm “es” sau các động từ tận cùng là : O, S, X, CH, SH, Y (nếu trước Y là phụ âm thì đổi Y thành I + ES, còn nếu nguyên âm thì thêm S).
Các trường hợp còn lại đều thêm S.
Cách dùng:
Diễn tả một hành động lặp đi lặp lai nhiều lần hoặc 1 thói quen:
Ex : Mary often gets up early in the morning.
(Mary thường dậy sớm vào buổi sáng)
Diễn tả một sự thật hiển nhiên :
Ex: The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
Mặt trời mọc ở phía đông và lặn ở phía tây.
Dấu hiệu nhận biết :
Always (luôn luôn), usually (thường xuyên), often/occasionally (thường), sometimes (thỉnh thoảng), rarely/ barely/ seldom (hiếm khi), never (không bao giờ).
Lưu ý : các trạng từ trên đứng trước động từ thường và đứng sau động từ to be.
Ex: He usually goes to bed at 10 p.m. (Anh ấy thường xuyên đi ngủ lúc 10 giờ tối)
He is often late for class. (Anh ấy thường đi học trễ)
2. Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn (Present Continuous Tense)
Công thức :
Câu khẳng định :
S + am/ is/ are + V-ing…
Câu phủ định :
S + am/ is/ are + not + V-ing…
Câu nghi vấn :
Am/ Is/ Are + S + V-ing…?
* Chủ ngữ số ít và đại từ ” He, she, it” thì đi với “is”.
Chủ ngữ số nhiều và đại từ ” You, we, they” thì đi với “are”.
Đại từ “I” thì đi với “am”.
Các thêm -ing:
Nếu như đông từ tận cùng bằng một chữ E: chúng ta bỏ chữ E đó đi rồi mới thêm -ing.
Ex: Ride –> Riding
Nếu động từ 1 âm tiết ở cuối có phụ âm, và trước phụ âm mà có một nguyên âm thì gấp đôi phụ âm rồi mới thêm ING.
Ex: run –> running
Các trường hợp còn lại thêm -ing bình thường.
Cách dùng :
Nói về hành động đang diễn ra có thể là ngay khoảnh khắc nói hoặc trong một khoảng thời gian nào đó :
Ex: I am doing my homework. ( Tôi đang làm bài tập về nhà)
My son is studying at university ( Con trai tôi đang học đại học)
Nói về một hành động trong tương lai đã được lên kế hoặch :
Ex: I am having a party this Saturday. ( Tôi sẽ tổ chức một bữa tiệc tùng thứ 7 này)
Dấu hiệu nhận biết :
Now (ngay bây giờ), at the moment (ngay lúc này), at the present (ngay bây giờ), today (ngày hôm nay).
2. Thì hiện tại hoàn thành (Present Perfect Tense)
Công thức:
Câu khẳng định :
S + have/ has + V3/V-ed…
Câu phủ định :
S + have/ has not + V3/V-ed…
Câu nghi vấn :
Have/ has + S + V3/V-ed…?
* Chủ ngữ số ít và đại từ “He, she, it” thì đi với “has”.
Chủ ngữ số số nhiều và đại từ “I, you, we, they” đi với “have”.
Cách dùng :
Nói về một hành động xảy ra trong quá khứ không xác định rõ thời điểm :
Ex: Have you had breakfast? (Em ăn sáng chưa?)
– No, I haven’t. ( dạ chưa ạ)
Nói về hành động bắt đầu ở quá khứ và đang tiếp tục ở hiện tại :
Ex: I have leant English for 5 years. ( Tôi học tiếng Anh được 5 năm rồi)
Nói vè một kinh nghiệm cho tới thời điểm hiện tại (thường dùng trạng từ ever ):
Ex:This is the biggest surprise that I’ve ever had.
3. Thì quá khứ đơn (Past Simple Tense)
Công thức :
Câu khẳng định :
S + V2 / V-ed …
Câu phủ định :
S + didn’t + V-inf…
Câu nghi vấn :
Did + S + V-inf …..?
Cách thêm -ed :
Các động từ một âm tiết mà tận cùng bằng một nguyên âm + một phụ âm (trừ h, w, x, y), chúng ta phải gấp đôi phụ âm trước khi thêm –ed:
Ex: fit –> fitted
Các động từ có 2 ấm tiết có dấu nhấn rơi vào âm tiết thứ 2 và tận cùng bằng một nguyên âm + một phụ âm(trừ h, w, x, y) , chúng ta cũng phải gấp đôi phụ âm trước khi thêm –ed:
Ex: per’mit –> permitted
Các động từ tận cùng bằng một phụ âm + y, đổi “y” thành “i” rồi thêm -ed
Ex: Study –> Studied
Cách dùng:
Diễn tả hành động xảy ra và chấm dứt tại một thời điểm hoặc một khoảng thời gian xác định trong quá khứ:
Ex: I bought a bunch of flowers yesterday. ( Tôi đã mua một bó bông ngày hôm qua)
Dấu hiệu nhận biết :
Yesterday (ngày hôm qua), … ago (cách đây …), last (night, week, month, year..) hoặc in + năm trong quá khứ.
4. Thì quá khứ tiếp diễn (Past Continuous Tense)
Công thức:
Câu khẳng định :
S + were / was + V-ing …….
Câu phủ định :
S + were / was + not + V-ing ……
Câu nghi vấn :
Were / Was + S + V-ing ……?
* Chủ ngữ số ít và đại từ “I, he, she, it” thì đi với “was”.
Chủ ngữ số số nhiều và đại từ “You, we, they” đi với “were”.
Cách dùng :
Nói về một hành động xảy ra tại một thời điểm cụ thể nào đó :
Ex: She was cooking dinner at 7 0’clock last night. (Cô ấy đang nấu ăn vào 7 giờ tối qua)
Dấu hiệu nhận biết :
At that moment ( vào lúc đó), at that time ( vào lúc đó), at this time yesterday/ last night ( vào lúc này hôm qua/ tối qua), at … o’clock yesterday ( vào … giờ hôm qua), all day yesterday ( suốt ngày hôm qua), all last week = during last week (trong suốt tuần) + thời gian ở quá khứ, whe whole of….(toàn bộ) + thời gian ở quá khứ.
5. Thì quá khứ hoàn thành (Past Perfect Tense)
Công thức :
Câu khẳng định :
S + had + V3 / V-ed …
Câu phủ định :
S + had + not + V3 / V-ed …
Câu nghi vấn:
Had + S + V3 / V-ed …. ?
Cách dùng :
Để nói về một hành động diễn ra trước hành động khác trong quá khứ :
Before/ By the time my mother came back, I had cleaned up the broken vase.
(Trước khi mẹ quay lại, tôi đã dọn sạch bình hoa bị bể rồi)
Dấu hiệu nhận biết :
Before / by the time ( trước khi)
6. Thì tương lai đơn (Simple Future Tense)
Công thức :
Câu khẳng định :
S + will + V-inf…
Câu phủ định :
S + will + NOT + V-inf…
Câu nghi vấn :
Will + S + V-inf…?
Cách dùng
Nói về một hành động sẽ xảy ra ở tương lai :
Ex: I will become a doctor when I grow up. (Tôi sẽ trở thành bác sĩ khi tôi trưởng thành)
Nói về một hành động được quyết định lúc nói :
Ex: – Tomorrow is her birthday, do you have any idea for the present? ( Mai là sinh nhật cô ấy rồi, bạn có ý tưởng gì không?)
– I will buy her a birthday cake. ( Tôi sẽ mua cho cô ấy một cái bánh kem)
Dấu hiệu nhận biết :
Tomorrow (ngày mai), next (week, month, year..), someday / one day (một ngày nào đó), in the future, soon (chẳng bao lâu nữa), tonight ( tối nay(, in a few day’s time (trong vài ngày).
7. Thì tương lai gần (Near Future)
Công thức :
Câu khẳng định:
S + am/is/are going to + V-inf….
Câu phủ định:
S + am/is/are not going to + V-inf….
Câu nghi vấn:
Am/Is/Are + S + going to + V-inf….?
Cách dùng:
Nói về hành động xảy ra trong tương lại gần :
Ex: I am going to do some shopping. Do you want to come with me?
(Tôi định đi mua sắm đây, bạn muốn đi cùng không?)
Nói về khả năng xảy ra việc gì đó dựa trên cơ sở sẵn có hiện tại :
Ex: Look at the dark clouds! It’s going to rain.
(Nhìn đám mây đen kìa!Trời sắp mưa rồi)
8. Thì tương lai tiếp diễn (Future Continuous Tense)
Công thức :
Câu khẳng định:
S + will be + V-ing…
Câu phủ định :
S + will not be + V-ing…
Câu nghi vấn:
Will + S be + V-ing…?
Cách dùng :
Nói về một hành động đang diễn ra ở tương lai vào một thời điểm cụ thể :
Ex: By this time next month, my father will be visiting the White House. (Vào giờ này tháng sau, ba tôi đang ghé vào nhà Trắng.
9. Thì tương lai hoàn thành (Future Perfect Tense)
Công thức:
Câu khẳng định :
S + will have + V3/V-ed….
Câu phủ định :
S + will have not + V3/V-ed....
Câu nghi vấn:
Will + S have + V3/V-ed…?
Cách dùng:
Nói về một hành động diễn ra trước một hành động khác/ thời điểm trong tương lai.
Ex: By the end of this year, I will have worked for our company for 10 years.
(Hết năm nay là tôi đã làm việc cho công ty được 10 năm rồi đấy)
II. Các hình thức so sánh tính từ và trạng từ
1. So sánh bằng
Công thức :
Tính từ :
S1 + be/ linking Verbs + as ADJ as + S2 ….
* Linking verbs : feel, smell, taste, look, sound, get, become, turn.
Ex: Julia is as tall as Hoja. (Julia cao bằng Hoja)
This song sounds as good as that song. (Bài này nghe hay như bài kia)
Trạng từ :
S1 + V + as ADV as + S2 …..
Ex: I can swim as fast as the teacher. (Mình có thể bơi nhanh bằng thầy đó)
* Hình thức phủ định của so sánh bằng có công thức như sau :
S1 + be/ V + not so ADJ/ADV as S2 …..
Trong dạng phủ định chúng ta phải dùng “so”, vẫn có thể dùng “as” nhưng nếu đó là trong văn nói giao tiếp không trang trọng.
Ex: He doesn’t play soccer so well as his brothers. (Cậu ấy không chơi đá banh giỏi bằng mấy người anh của mình)
2. So sánh hơn
Công thức :
Tính từ hay trạng từ ngắn :
S1 + be/V + ADJ/ADV + er than + S2 …
* Tính từ và trạng từ được gọi là ngắn khi chỉ có 1 âm tiết
Ex : He is/runs faster than me/I. (Anh ấy chạy nhanh hơn tôi)
I study harder than her/she. (Tôi học chăm chỉ hơn cô ấy)
My ruler is longer than yours. (Thước của tôi dài hơn của bạn)
Tính từ và trạng từ dài :
S1 + be/V + more ADJ/ADV + than + S2 …
* Tính từ và trạng từ được gọi là dài khi chỉ có 2 âm tiết trở lên
Ex: My car is more expensive than your car. ( Xe của tôi mắc hơn xe của anh)
He drives more careful than I/me. (Cậu ta lái xe cẩn thận hơn mình)
3. So sánh hơn nhất
Công thức :
Tính từ hay trạng từ ngắn :
S1 + be/V + ADJ/ADV + est …
* Tính từ và trạng từ được gọi là ngắn khi chỉ có 1 âm tiết
Ex: I am the tallest student in my class. ( Em là người cao nhất lớp)
Tính từ và trạng từ dài :
S1 + be/V + the most ADJ/ADV …
* Tính từ và trạng từ được gọi là dài khi chỉ có 2 âm tiết trở lên.
Ex: Susan is the most intelligent daughter of Mr Han. ( Susan là cô con gái thông minh nhất của ông Han)
Among my best friends, Nathan plays the violin the best. ( Trong mấy người bạn thân cảu tôi, Nathan chơi vi-ô-lông giỏi nhất)
III. The passive voice
Công thức cơ bản bắt buộc của thể bị động :
S1 + BE + V3/V-ED + (BY STH/SB)….
Các bước chuyển từ câu chủ động thành câu bị động :
Xác định S, V, O trong câu chủ động
Xác định thì của câu.
Đem O làm chủ ngữ còn S đảo ra sau by.
Chuyển V chính thành V3-V-ed sau BE
Ex: My father(S) hunted(V) a deer(O).
—> A deer(O) was hunted(V) by my father(S)
I(S) am feeding(V) a rabbit(O).
—> A rabbit(O) is being fed(V) by me(S).
IV. Câu điều kiện
1. Điều kiện loại 1. (Nói về sự việc có thể xảy ra trong tương lai)
Công thức :
If + S + V(present), S + will + V-inf ….
*Chủ ngữ S trong câu điều kiện trên có thể giống nhau hoặc khác nhau.
Ex: If I have free time, I will go out with you.
(Nếu anh rãnh, anh sẽ đi chơi với em)
If he says “I love you”, she will feel extremely happy.
( Nếu anh nói anh yêu em, cô ấy sẽ cảm thấy cực kì hạnh phúc)
2. Điều kiện loại 2 (Nói về sự việc không có thật ở hiện tại)
Công thức :
If + S + V2/V-ed/be(were), S + would + V-inf ….
*Chủ ngữ S trong câu điều kiện trên có thể giống nhau hoặc khác nhau.
Ex: If I were the judge, I would sentence that criminal to death
(Nếu tôi là thẩm phán, tôi đã kết án tử hình tên tội phạm đó rồi)
If I stayed at home now, my mom would force me to do the homework.
(Nếu tôi mà đang ở nhà bây giờ, mẹ tôi sẽ bắt tôi làm bài tập)
3. Điều kiện loại 3 (Nói về sự việc không có thật trong quá khứ)
Công thức :
If + S + had V3/V-ed, S + would have + V3/V-ed….
*Chủ ngữ S trong câu điều kiện trên có thể giống nhau hoặc khác nhau.
Ex: If I hadn’t treated her too badly, She wouldn’t have left me behind.
(Nếu tôi đã không đối xử tệ với cô ấy thì cô ấy đã không bỏ tôi lại rồi)
If he had come in time for help, she wouldn’t have died.
( Nếu ông ấy đến kịp để giúp thì bà đã không chết rồi).
# Ngoài ra chúng ta còn có thể sử dụng kết hợp câu điều kiện loại 2 và loại 3 để nói về nguyên nhân không có thật ở quá khứ và kết quả không có thật ở hiện tại
Ex: If I had studied last night, I wouldn’t have get a big zero now.
(Nếu tôi chịu học bài thì tôi đã không ăn trứng ngỗng như bây giờ).
V. Câu tường thuật (Reported Speech)
Những động từ thường dùng trong câu tường thuật : said, told, thought, announced.
Khi đổ câu trực tiếp sang câu tường thuật cần lưu ý 3 điều sau:
Ngôi:
Ngôi thứ 1 sẽ được đổi thành chủ ngữ trong câu.
Ngôi thứ 2 sẽ được đổi thành túc từ trong câu.
Ngôi thứ 3 sẽ được giữ nguyên trong câu.
Thì:
Đơn giản chỉ cần lùi về một thì : hiện tại chuyền về quá khứ (work–>worked, am/is/are working—>was/were working, has/have worked—>had worked, has/have been working—>had been working); quá khứ chuển về quá khứ hoàn thành (worked—>had worked, was/were working—>had been working); quá khư hoàn thành giữ nguyên; các modal verb (can—>could, will—>would, shall—>should, may—>might, must—>had to).
Trạng từ chủ thời gian và nơi chốn :
today———–> that day
tonight———> that night
next week ——> the week after
tomorrow ——-> the day after
now————-> then
ago————-> before
this————> that
these———–> those
yesterday ——> the day before
last week ——> the week before
here ———–> there
Ex: He said to me ” I split up with my girlfriend yesterday”
—> He told me that he had split up with his girlfriend the day before.
VI. Mệnh đề quan hệ (Relative clause)
1. Mệnh đề quan hệ xác định
Dùng để bỗ nghĩa cho danh từ đứng trước và không thể thiếu vì nếu thiếu thì câu sẽ trở nên không rõ nghĩa.
Ex: I’ve just met a man. He cheated John last week.
—> I’ve just met the man who/that cheated John last week.
*Nếu thiếu cụm trên chúng ta sẽ không biết người đàn ông đó là ai.
2. Mệnh đề quan hệ không xác định
Dùng đển bổ nghĩa phụ thêm cho danh từ đứng trước nên dù không có nó, câu văn vẫn rõ nghĩa. Mệnh đề này thường được ngăn cách với mệnh đề chính bằng dấu “,”.
Ex: Tony Stark, who is the Iron man, is the greatest inventor in Marvel.
* Trong mệnh đề quan hệ không xác định, chúng ta không được dùng “that”.
# Ngoài ra mệnh đề quan hệ còn có thể bổ nghĩa cho cả một mệnh đề khác.
Ex: His mother was dead, which was a blow to him.
(Việc mẹ anh ấy chết là một cú sốc với anh ấy).
* Trong trường hợp này, chúng ta chỉ được dùng “which”.
# Trong mệnh đề quan hệ :
Who thay thế cho người
Which thay thế cho vật hoặc hiện tượng
That có thể thay thế cả “Who” và “That” nhưng trong một số trường hợp nêu trên thì không.
VII. Cách sử dụng Though, Although, Even though, Despite và In spite of
Tất cả 5 từ trên đều có nghĩa là “mặc dù”, tuy nhiên lại có cách dùng khác nhau chia theo 2 nhóm :
1. THOUGH, ALTHOUGH, EVEN THOUGH :
Theo sau THOUGH, ALTHOUGH và EVEN THOUGH là một mệnh đề.
Ex: Though/ although/ even though I studied over night, I couldn’t pass the exam.
( Mặc dù tôi đã học cả đêm nhưng tôi vẫn không đậu)
* Nên nhớ không đặt “but” để nối 2 mệnh đề.
2. DESPITE VÀ IN SPITE OF :
Khác sau 3 từ trên, theo sau DESPITE VÀ IN SPITE OF là danh từ hoặc động từ thêm -ing.
Ex : Despite/ In spite of her efforts, she can’t quit smoking.
( Mặc dù cô ấy có công gắng nhưng cô ấy vẫn không bỏ thuốc được)
* Nên nhớ không đặt “but” để nối 2 mệnh đề.
# Chúng ta có thể biến đổi một tí để sau DESPITE và IN SPITE OF là mệnh đề bằng cách như sau :
Despite/ In spite of the fact that she has made a lot of efforts, she can’t quit smoking.
VIII. Diễn tả mục đích
Để diễn tả mục đích chúng ta sẽ dùng TO, SO THAT, IN ORDER THAT, SO AS TO và IN ORDER TO, và được chia thành 2 nhóm sau :
1. SO THAT VÀ IN ORDER THAT :
Theo sau 2 từ trên là một mệnh đề.
Ex: She has been working hard so that/ in order that she can save enough money to cure her mother’s rare disease.
( Cô ấy làm việc chăm chỉ để cô ấy có thể dành dạm đủ tiền chữa căn bệnh hiểm nghèo của mẹ mình)
2. TO , SO AS TO VÀ IN ORDER TO :
Theo sau 3 từ trên là động từ nguyên mẫu (V-inf).
Ex I want to take the IELTS test to/ in order to/ so as to know how well my English is.
IX. Cách dùng should
Chúng ta dùng “should” khi ta muốn đưa ra lời khuyên cho ai đó và “should” thường được dịch là “nên”.
Cấu trúc : S + should (not) + V-inf ….
Ex: You should go on diet now. (Em nên ăn kiêng đi)
You shouldn’t take a shower right after eating too much. (Bạn không nên tắm ngay sau khi ăn quá nhiều)
X. Tính từ thái độ (Adjectives of attitude)
1. HÌNH THỨC HIỆN TẠI PHÂN TỪ (-ING):
Để diễn tả cảm giác, suy nghĩ do một việc, sự vật hay một người nào đó đem lại cho người nói.
Ex : The book is thrilling.
(Người nói thấy quyển sách cuốn hút)
2. HÌNH THỨC QUÁ KHỨ PHÂN TỪ (-ED) :
Diễn tả nhận thức, cảm giác, suy nghĩ của người nói về một việc, sự vật hay một người nào đó.
Ex: I am keen on this movie.
(Tôi thích bộ phim này)
XI. Gerund and Infinity
1. CÁC ĐỘNG TỪ THEO SAU LÀ GERUND (V-ING) :
Discontinue, Finish, Recommend, Acknowledge, Forgive, Report, Admit, Dislike, give up (stop), Resent, Advise, Dispute, Keep (continue), Resist, Allow, Dread, keep on, Resume, Anticipate, Permit, Mention, Risk, Appreciate, Picture, Mind, object to, Shirk, Avoid, Endure, Miss, Shun, be worth, Enjoy, Necessitate, Suggest, can’t help, Escape, Omit, Support, Celebrate, Postpone, Tolerate, Confess, Explain, Practice, Understand, Consider, Fancy, Prevent, Defend, Fear, Warrant, Delay, feel like, Recall, Detest, Feign, recollect
Ex: I have finished reading the book.
(Tôi đã đọc xong quyển sách rồi)
In order to get high scores in the IELTS exam, he practises listening, speaking , reading and writing skills everyday.
(Để đạt điểm cao trong kì thi IELTS, anh ấy tập kĩ năng nghe, nói ,đọc, viết mỗi ngày)
2. CÁC ĐỘNG TỪ THEO SAU LÀ INFINITY (ĐỘNG TỪ NGUYÊN THỂ):
Agree, demand, mean, Seek, appear, deserve, Need, Seem, Arrange, Determine, Neglect, Ask, Elect, Offer, Strive, attempt, Endeavor, Pay, Struggle, Beg, Expect, Plan, Swear, can/can’t afford, Fail, Prepare, tend, can/can’t wait, Get, Pretend, Threaten, Care, grow (up), Profess, turn out, Chance, Guarantee, Promise, Venture, Choose, Hesitate, Prove, Volunteer, Claim, Hope, Refuse, Wait, Come, Hurry, Remain, Want, Consent, Incline, Request, Wish, Dare, Learn, Resolve, would like, Decide, Manage
Ex: I wish to go home right now. (Tôi muốn về nhà ngay bây giờ)
He will agree to pretend to date with me if I promise to do all the home work for him.
(Anh ấy sẽ châp nhận giả giờ hẹn hò với tôi nếu tôi hứa sẽ làm hết bài tập giùm anh ấy)
3. CÁC ĐỘNG TỪ THEO SAU LÀ GERUND VÀ INFINITY NHƯNG ÍT THAY ĐỔI NGHĨA :
Begin, can’t bear, can’t stand, Continue, Hate, Like, Love, Prefer, Propose, start
Ex. I started writing / to write the report 2 hours ago.
(Tôi bắt đầu viết báo báo cách đây 2 tiếng)
Let him be, you can continue introducing / to introduce new products.
(Kệ anh ấy đi, cô có thể tiếp tục giới thiệu sản phẩm mới)
4. CÁC ĐỘNG TỪ THEO SAU LÀ GERUND VÀ INFINITY NHƯNG CÓ NGHĨA KHÁC NHAU :
FORGET
